BOYCOTT - MADE IN CHINA PRODUCTS - 4 good reasons

China’s Ecological Footprint & Lack of Nature Conservation

  • China’s rapid growth and lack of enviromental law enforcement makes them one of the most significant polluters on the planet. A position they show little effort in changing.
  • China’s ecological footprint is 2.2 hectares per person, the earth can only sustain 1.8 hectares per person, 1.5 in China.
  • Overpopulation contribution of China is 1.3 billion people.
  • Due to heavy air pollution, research states that athletes won’t reach their peak performance in the Olympics in China.
  • China is a major offendor of acts against nature conservation, biodiversity and animal welfare, not just in their own country but in other countries. For example:
    • Excessive, inhumane and in many cases illegal killing of sharks for soup.
    • The illegal slaughter of endangered species such as tigers and rhinos for their body parts for Chinese Medicine (parts from a single Tiger may earn US$5 million).
    • Increase in elephant poaching and massive demand for Ivory in China

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated“.

(Mahatma Gandhi, 1869-1948)

2) China and Africa

  • Chinese shipment of 77 tons of army weapons for the support of the Mugabe Regime in Zimbabwe.
  • China causes suffering and violence in the Dafur Region of Sudan.
  • Unconditional credits to African countries and political leaders
  • China continues to buy out African resources and mining operations.
  • China aggressively imports cheap manufactured goods to Africa decreasing the employment opportunities for Africans.
  • Continual massive illegal overfishing by Chinese trawlers within the 200 Mile Zone of the African Coast resulting destruction of marine habitats and fish populations.

3) China and Human Rights

  • Prolific and well known child labour problems.
  • No freedom of speech.
  • (Tiannamon square massacare - peaceful demonstration to which the governemnt sent tanks. International mail, SMS, phone calls and internet chat rooms/websites monitored. Arrest of those exercising their right to freedom of speech. Foreign journalists are now reporting harrassement.)
  • No freedom of religion. (All religious leaders have to be chosen by the government, all religious groups must not have loyalties outside of China.

4) China and Tibet

  • After invading Tibet in 1950 a quarter of a million Chinese troops still remain stationed there.
  • Due to Beijing's incentives, millions of Chinese citizens have relocated to Tibet; they now outnumber the 6 million Tibetans. Through what has been termed Chinese apartheid, ethnic Tibetans now have a lower life expectancy, literacy rate, and per capita income than Chinese inhabitants of Tibet.
  • The Dalai Lama is not recognized by the Chinese government as he was not chosen by them. China has in total destroyed over 6000 Tibetan monasteries.
